2023 - tributes

Partnership between the Museum of Brazilian Home and the Sergio Rodrigues Institute.

The Museum of the Brazilian Home and the Sergio Rodrigues Institute celebrate their partnership with the exhibition panel featuring the "Chifruda" armchair, including the specimen of the armchair that will be donated to the MCB Collection, manufactured through a process that uses hand tools and traditional techniques of artisanal carpentry, with Muiracatiara wood and natural leather.

The exhibition panel introduces the "Chifruda" Armchair to the public, a piece conceived by architect and designer Sergio Rodrigues in 1962, for the exhibition "Furniture as an object of art," elaborated by him at the OCA gallery in Rio de Janeiro. This exhibition counted on the participation of several architect friends of Sergio, who played a fundamental role in the construction of Brazilian architecture. At that time, professionals were launching new projects, all in response to a challenge posed by Sergio: "Make furniture!".
